French luthier Jean-Baptiste Chipot-Vuillaume was a student of Honoré Derazey before working for several years in the workshop of Collin-Mezin. His hyphenated last name came about after his marriage to Stella Vuillaume. Despite having no relation to the esteemed French luthier J. B. Vuillaume, the name alone served his reputation well. He later established his own shop and made instruments in the traditional French style of his teachers.
