Paul Hart became interested in musical instruments while he was in high school and began making his own without formal training. He worked for Peter Prier Violins and was a teacher at the Violin Making School of America for several years before opening his own shop. He received a Gold Medal from the Violin Society of America in 1978 for viola workmanship and again in 1980 for cello workmanship. He has taught some of the most prominent American contemporary luthiers, including Jay Ifshin, David Gusset, and Benjamin Ruth.

While small in length, this viola features the sound of a much larger instrument. This viola is perfect for a very advanced student or a professional seeking the large tone, ample projection and warmth of a large-bodied viola while needing a smaller instrument.
