Gary Garavaglia is a prolific and celebrated maker based out of the Chicago workshop of William Harris Lee & Company. After studying at the former Kenneth Warren School, now known as the Chicago School of Violin Making, Garavaglia spent the first 25 years of his career creating cellos based on the models of Stradivari, Guarneri, and Montagnana, as well as developing models of his own. Following this initial period and after establishing a characteristically rich and complex sound for his cellos, Garavaglia began making violins and violas as well. These instruments have been similarly recognized for their warmth and resonance.
