One of the founding members of the Violin Making and Repair program at the North Bennet Street School, Raymond Melanson is highly regarded as a violin maker and teacher. Among his awards from the Violin Society of America are a Gold Medal and three Silver Medals for tone. In the past thirty years he has made over 300 instruments, many of which are now owned by soloists and symphony musicians across the nation.
