George Gemunder & Sons - New York, 1901

$0.00

The star pupil of Jean- Baptiste Vuillaume, George Gemunder was a German-born American violin maker that made a name for himself in the mid to late 19th century. In his apprenticeship with Vuillaume he made great leaps and bounds in his own making, he even began working on the instruments of famous violinist Sphor and Ole Bull. He rose quickly through the ranks of Vuillaume’s shop and learned the intricate secrets of French and Italian violin making.

He and his brothers would later emigrate to Boston, MA, where after a few falters in starting their business they climbed the echelons of instrument making cementing their family name in the pantheon of great instrument makers.
