Son and student of Georges Chanot, Joseph Chardon inherited his father’s workshop after his retirement in 1872. The workshop was renamed Chardon & Chanot and Chardon continued to produce quality instruments in the style of the traditional masters. Later instruments from this workshop bear the label “Chardon et Fils” as he was joined and later succeeded by his sons Georges and André.
