Prior to beginning his career as a bow maker, Michael Yeats trained as an apprentice to baroque and renaissance lute maker, Robert Lundberg. He then studied bow making with American bow maker William Salchow before moving to the Netherlands and opening his own shop. His bows are in the hands of many prominent musicians, including the Yeats Quartet that uses his bows exclusively and violinist Gil Shaham.
