A former apprentice at the esteemed Bein & Fushi workshop, John Norwood Lee studied instrument and bow making with Bill Webster, Manfred Reinl, and Arnold Bone. He established his own workshop in 1978 with the support of Bein & Fushi. He specializes in making fine copies of bows by the French masters, particularly Tourte, Peccatte, and Sartory. In 1982, he received a Gold Medal for bow workmanship at a competition by the Violin Society of America.
