The “François Barzoni” line of instruments comes from the workshop of Beare & Son in London. Originally established in 1865 by John Beare, the business split into two firms in 1892. Beare, Goodwin & Co. (now J & A Beare) specialized in selling and trading antique instruments while Beare & Son built and sold new instruments. Beare & Son’s workshop was prolific and their high quality violins helped to change negative attitudes toward new instruments.
