Andrew Carruthers - Santa Rosa, 2006

0.00

A graduate of the Welsh School of Violin Making and Repair, Andrew Carruthers went on to complete his apprenticeship in the workshop of Bein & Fushi in Chicago to learn from Russell Wagner. He established his own shop in Santa Rosa, California in 1996. In recent years, he has focused on making cellos and experimenting with wood combinations that diverge from the traditional spruce top and maple back. One of these, a cello with a poplar back made on a Rugeri model, won a Silver Medal for Tone at the 2014 Violin Association of America competition.
